What was the first festival you went to?

Mine was a free one run by the local radio station in Reading they somehow managed to book fairly popular acts (#when you bear in mind it was free and for a local radio station acts that had some traction I mean I'm now a rock fan but at the time I was well in to pop as most people are when they're young (I'm talking about 7-12).

My first Rock festival was the Buck and Skit fest again in Reading it was mostly local bands(they were also pretty good) but there was also bands like Capdown and Biffy Clyro (pre puzzle) on the bill not bad for £12.

Etymotic Foam vs. Custom Earplugs

I'm trying to decide if custom earplugs are worth it for me... So I've been to concerts in the past, and I typically use Etymotic ER20XS earplugs with foam tips. I usually try to be close to the front (and usually end up off to the side), so maybe the sound would be different if I go further back and toward the center, but I find that with the foam tips, the sound ends up super bassy and the vocals become a little hard to understand. Is that a product of where I'm standing in relation to the speakers, or is that just the nature of foam tips? Could I expect to see a difference with custom earplugs?
