Going to High Sierra from SF/Bay Area?

I've been going to High Sierra for the last 10 years, this year I need a ride there from SF Bay area there and back. I'm meeting a crew of friends there but they all moved out of the bay during the pandemic. I don't have too much stuff; a tent, easy up, cooler, duffel bag and a collapsible wagon. If someone has room for me I can pay for gas there and back! (Within reason, if you have a giant vehicle we can talk about splitting) I'm a chill and friendly guy, easy to get along with, can help with loading/unloading, vaccinated, and will shower before both trips, lol.

Etymotic Foam vs. Custom Earplugs

I'm trying to decide if custom earplugs are worth it for me... So I've been to concerts in the past, and I typically use Etymotic ER20XS earplugs with foam tips. I usually try to be close to the front (and usually end up off to the side), so maybe the sound would be different if I go further back and toward the center, but I find that with the foam tips, the sound ends up super bassy and the vocals become a little hard to understand. Is that a product of where I'm standing in relation to the speakers, or is that just the nature of foam tips? Could I expect to see a difference with custom earplugs?
