Coordinating a large group without using the dreaded group chat?

I have 30-40 people coming to a party separately that will be all over the place at different times, you know how it is. What web tools do you guys use to coordinate?

I would really like something that people can log into without an app or device restricted stuff. We ALL hate the 40 person group text... that shit is ridiculous.

Is there a website or forum that lets you set something like this up? I really don't want to use facebook. Have any of you used something to get people together at a certain place, or coordinate over a whole trip so like anyone can log in and see where people are in case they want to join that group?

Etymotic Foam vs. Custom Earplugs

I'm trying to decide if custom earplugs are worth it for me... So I've been to concerts in the past, and I typically use Etymotic ER20XS earplugs with foam tips. I usually try to be close to the front (and usually end up off to the side), so maybe the sound would be different if I go further back and toward the center, but I find that with the foam tips, the sound ends up super bassy and the vocals become a little hard to understand. Is that a product of where I'm standing in relation to the speakers, or is that just the nature of foam tips? Could I expect to see a difference with custom earplugs?
