So the NYC festival starts in about 3 hours… they just gave us set times and the map yesterday. The map doesn’t show where I pick up my charger I bought from them and apparently there are only two water stations on site. The set times are what really annoy me. Apparently Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, and a couple smaller artists are just not fucking booked anymore. We haven’t gotten any info about them dropping out and they just aren’t there now. I've been listening to EDM ever since my early years of college, but I've always wanted to go to a rave or a festival. In my darkest times, EDM was what helped kept me going. Nearly took my own life last year. Fast forward to 2021, and I decided I needed to finally get out of my comfort zone. Electric Zoo festival was coming up, the lineup looked fire, and I saw some of my favorite DJs (Illenium, Galantis, Kaskade, Tiesto, Alesso, Steve Aoki) asked one of my close friends to see if she wanted to come along, she was interested at first but bailed out. So fuck it, I'll go solo if I have to. Clicked around the ezoo subreddit to see if anyone else was going solo or was willing to split hotel costs. Got added to a bunch of festival rave message groups and someone (now one of my rave buddies) reached out to me and wanted to see if I wanted to join his group. I gladly accepted. We exchanged contact info and socials just to make sure we are legit. He's been to a few festivals

I’ve recently started going to raves, I’ve been wearing old skool vans bc that’s just the shoes I own. However the platform sole is difficult for me to dance the way I want to. I’m not sure what shoes I want to buy to remedy this. Ballet slippers come to mind only bc of the flexibility, but I wouldn’t want to be that exposed on the bottom of my feet. I attended my first festival in April with my girlfriend and family. I was honestly in a dark place, had dark thoughts, and was generally miserable. I had been lying to myself and everyone for years about how I felt. I was starting to believe I was actually “okay.” It’s pretty scary actually because I didn’t even realize where my mind was going. My first festival I was full of anxiety. But I learned to cut loose and have fun for really the first time ever. I felt like I was in paradise with all my loved ones around me. Immediately when I got home I felt I’d never recover but within a few days I was planning for the next festival. It was even better. I made an amazing group of friends at my third. And have been to four more with them all. My relationship with my girlfriend and family is flourishing like I could have never imagined. And honestly I cry every time I think about it, I HAVE THE BEST FRIENDS EVER. They live hours away but the wait to see them every so often is more than wort

For the new year I was planning on gifting my bf with tickets to Zamna Festival in Tulum, but from what I’m reading online it sounds like even locals to Mexico are hesitant to go to Tulum due to crime and a few tourists were recently caught in a crossfire there. I know these things can happen anywhere but if the locals consider the city dangerous then I feel like we may be smart to avoid it. In researching I also found departure as an alternative which is in PDC. This is close by and still an area that sees crime but if we stick to venues and hotels with security it sounds like we will be a bit safer than going to a jungle festival in Tulum. I’m sad because Tulum is so beautiful and their parties look fun but not only am I apprehensive due to safety but also based on what I’ve been reading about how they upcharge tourists outrageously (like $35 for one drink at some places). So by more than just music I mean atmosphere, the opportunity to meet women, make friends, the decorations, being able to just socialize without having to know everything about the artists and have multiple stages of somewhat different genres. I’ve only gone to coachella which I loved and dreamstate two times. Dreamstate I found I just didn’t vibe with anyone, I don’t like my current group cuz I gotta walk on eggshells around them. I used to like trance music but I’ve got shit for going for other reasons besides JUST the music. Currently these are the ones I use. I have tried the larger pair and the smaller pair, both hurt my ears and make them extremely itchy it's almost unbearable. I have also tried the standard foam ones, as well as these and many more pairs like them. They all are unbearably uncomfortable. My ears aren't dirty. I don't use q-tips in my ears much because they're not good for them, but I do clean my ears out with a hydrogen peroxide and water mixture if ever I feel there's a lot of wax buildup (maybe once every few months). Other than that my doctor said to just use a paper towel to clean my ears out if I feel the need, but it's really best to leave them be for the most part.
